Congreve Rolling Ball Clock Case

Case study – a bespoke display case made specifically to house a

Congreve rolling ball clock.

The clock was suffering from the lack of any dust protection so the client asked us to make a case to protect the freshly restored movement.

We designed and made the case to suit the dimensions of the clock.

The case rails were made from Beech and ‘Ebonised’.  This is a colour and waxing treatment which gives a warm but not shiny finish.  It is traditionally found on ‘black’ bracket clocks from the 17th and 18th century.

The base is black marble finished in a satin bead blasted finish.

The case is fully glazed.
